A line is just a number. You say the real result will be higher or lower. That is the whole game.
Here is a real one from the board: Sabrina Ionescu — Points + Rebounds + Assists — 30.
You get two choices, and only two:
- Over — she finishes with more than 30.
- Under — she finishes with less than 30.
That is it. You are not picking who wins the game. You are not picking a score. You are answering one question about one number.
Where the number comes from
The app makes it up. Not randomly — they have models — but a person at a company chose 30, and a different app might choose 29.5 for the same player on the same night.
That matters more than it sounds. Apps post thousands of lines a day. Nobody can watch all of them. A player gets ruled out, a starter changes, the weather turns — and some of those numbers do not move fast enough.
Words you just learned
- Line — the number you bet over or under.
- Over / Under — your two choices.
- Prop — one player + one stat + one line. “Ionescu Pts+Rebs+Asts 30” is a prop.
- Leg — one prop inside a bigger slip. Pick three props, you have a three-leg slip.
Next: why being right half the time is not good enough — and exactly how often you actually need to be right.
